Every year the public spends many thousands of pounds on repairs when some simple maintenance could have prevented or minimised that expenditure. Prevention being better than cure is a well worn phrase but with good reason – it cuts down on the amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth when the car has actually broken down. You can never prevent all breakdowns or necessary repair bills but any steps you can take to reduce them must be a good thing and of course, we would always advise you have membership of one of the breakdown services just in case.

Some maintenance you can do yourself at home and over the coming weeks and months I will be advising you on the things you can do yourself.  Some will require you to bring your car in to us, but proactive spending now will nearly always be significantly cheaper than reactive spending later.
